General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

Monday, April 9, 2018

Entering Spring, the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is coming into effect on 25th May 2018. The new regulation is being changed to make sure that we are getting consent from all customers to protect their data. The new definition of consent is ‘freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous indication of the data subject’s wishes by which he or she, by statement or by a clear affirmative action, signifies agreement to the processing of personal data relating to him or her”.

Businesses will have to change their process when dealing with customers, especially their consent mechanisms. All customers will have records to say that they have agreed to continue receiving updates and that there will be a simpler way to withdraw consent, as there will be opt in methods.

The advantage of this regulation will allow all customers to feel safe, as their data will not be allowed to be sent anywhere without their consent and there will be better cybersecurity in all businesses.

Stones Residential will ensure all the legal guidelines are incorporated into our Estate Agency as customers safety is very important to us!
