Stones Residential Market Update

Monday, July 24, 2017

Summer 2017 has not only seen temperatures rise but we are also pleased to see activity heating up again since the surprise call of the general election. The big question on everyone’s mind is; what is really happening with house prices? The answer here appears to be, it depends who you want to listen to or what you are reading.

Five of the most commonly used indices are Rightmove, Nationwide, Halifax, LSL / Acadata  and Land Registry ONS. While Rightmove, Nationwide and Halifax have put out recent reports claiming that the national average house sale is coming down, more noticeably both LSL and Land Registry (probably the most accurate of all) have both said that house price in the recent past have in fact and are continuing to go up. One thing is for sure is that nobody definitely knows which direction the market is going which may indicate that prices have firmly plateaued and could stay at a constant for at least until the end of 2017.
